Robert, Elinor and Adam went to see Pikey this afternoon and she was a good deal brighter. Her ward has five old biddies in it (no men). Does that make six old biddies or five plus Pikey? By the way the potty lady did not move with her!!!! Thank the Lord.
Anyway enough of this banter..........This morning Robert had alerted Pikey's haematologist at the hospital at Barrow who we were due to see this morning. He kindly got the equivalent doctor in Lancaster to see her which he did while we were there. We knew him anyway as she had her Velcade treatment in Lancaster last summer. The Barrow, Kendal and Lancaster hospitals are all part of the same NHS Trust so he was able to see the results of her latest blood test which was done last Monday at High Bentham. So some parts of the NHS work quite well.
The same cannot be said for the hospital who ran out of pillows this morning!!! Unbelievable.
Pikey was able to dispense with her oxygen mask for longer periods than yesterday although she has to wear it to keep her oxygen levels up while her left lung recovers its full functionality.
She is very grateful for all the emails and messages. Robert suspects the phone at her bed will be used quite a lot in the days to come.
It is much too early yet to predict when she will be home.
Love Robert
