Medical update No 11 - Monday evening
Pikey is as well as can be expected. She had a rather torrid morning as she was told she was going to have a CT scan to see if the antibiotics had affected her liver. So they got her ready in her wheelchair which is now beside her bed. She waited and waited and waited and got more and more uncomfortable sitting in her wheelchair which she never does for more about half an hour at home. Two or three hours later a porter came to collect her.
By this time she was in a fair amount of pain which at home she would have coped with with a quick swig of morphine sulphate but then this is a hospital!!! Luckily Robert met her and the porter on the way to the X-ray Department in one of the incredibly long and cold corridors which link the parts of the hospital together
When the three of us got to the CT scan area they asked if she could stand!!! On being told she could not do that nor could she transfer to the bed nor could she lie flat or her back they said that she should have come on a trolley - silly her!!!
Any way we both used our undoubted charm on the surly nurse and heaved her up onto the imaging table. The upshot of the scan, which to Robert looked like fuzzy images of the moon's surface, was that she was clear of any liver damage. All's well that ends well as the Bard said.
When she got back to the ward she had missed afternoon tea!!! More rivetting tales from Royal Lancaster Infirmary tomorrow.
No sign of her coming home any time soon. Heigh ho!!!
Loads of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ from Robert and Pikey
This blog is usually published every Friday (tea-time-ish) to keep you up to date with the goings on of and thoughts from one old codger at Summerhill Stables and one in the battle zone at Ward 4, Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
