Medical update No 12

Robert has spent a busy day trying to find out how and when Pikey can move to the private BMI Hospital across the road. There don’t seem to be any insuperable problems but the consultant, under whose “care” she is, has been on holiday ever since she got admitted and was not due back until this afternoon and we need his ay so to the move.

Pikey looks and feels a lot better but the latest complication is an accumulation of fluid on her right lung (where the pneumonia was) which is hopefully being drained soon. She had to be X-rayed which Robert oversaw this afternoon and have another CT scan (let's hope that isn't the same shambles it was yesterday!!) before they can decide where to place the drain.

The reason why we are trying to move her is that despite the really nice nursing staff and doctors they are all rushed off their feet and cannot give disabled patients the TLC and attention they need. This does not doo Pikey any favours whatsoever.

The good thing about the BMI is that there is a wonderful physio there (who dealt with Robert when he had his new knee and who should be able to get Pikey more mobile.

All in all we are making progress in a forwards direction.
