Friday evening
Pikey is now in Ward 22 which is in a modern unit behind the main hospital. With windows you can see out of!!! From them you can see across to B&Q and Lancaster Castle i.e. the old jail which is still used as such. At least it’s a view and she is right next to the window which is some relief as the heating is turned right up and it’s stiflingly hot in the ward. At least she is out of the hell hole of Ward 4.
That’s two days of progress – whatever next!!!!
She had to transfer by ambulance as there is no covered way between the two buildings. That’s planning for you. The ward is modern with things like fridges in the kitchen and loos for visitors. The drawback is that although it is a rehab ward it’s actually where they get people back on their legs so the average age is well over seventy and some of the ladies in her four bed section are considerably older and a trifle gaga. But some of the patients are dressed in ordinary clothes!!!
Still it’s an improvement. Nothing could be worse than Ward 4. Outside the entrance to Ward 4 there is a plastic crate full of builders rubbish which has been there the entire four weeks Pikey was there. Robert was due to see the “Modern Matron” about the nursing conditions there today but because of the move he was not able to so will try next week.
Kate has gone home now and we both are very grateful to her for all her help and support.
