Pikey was feeling very sleepy all weekend and having great trouble peeing. We managed to get to church on Sunday but she kept falling asleep during the sermon and when the celebrants came down to give her Communion in her wheelchair the curate had to wake her up.
This was all very funny until this morning when she was very very sleepy and her hands were shaking so much and she was so weak that Robert could not get her out of bed. So once again, off in an ambulance to Royal Lancaster Infirmary. Luckily the ambulance man is known to Robert because of the Bentham Housefinder which he devised and which the Yorkshire Ambulance Service use all the time.
After many questions and much head scratching they have concluded that
1. Her potassium levels were sky high which can cause damage to the operation of the heart. They are slightly down now.
2. Her calcium levels were very low which was causing the shakes. The calcium levels are going up now.
3. She was suffering from renal failure. Whether this is reversible or not remains to be seen.
All the medics are talking to each other including the haematologists from Barrow and Lancaster but whether or not the problems are caused by the new chemotherapy or not remains to be see.
Robert has been at her bedside all day and Elinor was in Preston and came for the afternoon.
I will do a daily blog to keep you all up to speed until the panics are over.
Once again the blog comes into its own!!!
