After all this faffing (spelling??) about they have now said that all Pikey has to do is go down to the plaster department have a shot of Entonox to keep her happy, have the temporary plaster cut off, get the surgeon to hold her leg straight, plaster her up and send her home. What a waste of a bed in a trauma ward for five whole days while we all thought the delay as the lack of an operating theatre. And by the way the surgeon has now gone on holiday!!!
Anyway she’s due home tomorrow evening or maybe Thursday.
Robert saw the “modern matron” this morning and she was very grateful for his input as she has just gone on post and didn’t know what an appalling reputation the hospital has and Ward 4 in particular. He put her straight, left her with a copy of his notes, told her it was all on the blog and kept his cool throughout – surprise, surprise. He told her, in no uncertain terms, what a traumatic time Pikey had been through and what a strain it had been on him.
More anon.
