Even though some folk are convinced that we live in the "Frozen North" we have had just one fall of snow which disappeared overnight on Monday. Maybe we are just lucky but all the locals say it rarely snows in Bentham; it’s too far west to get Russia’s cold blasts and too near the sea.
Angela could not come on Monday because she had a cold - they don’t do Pikey any good at all - and there was a modicum of the white stuff on the lanes round here. The result is the house looks a trifle dusty and grubby as we both put off housework as long as possible – we did however manage to change the sheets!!!
Pikey’s shoulder continues to recover - albeit slowly. The stair lift is operational with its cardboard adapter and the spare part has been promised for Friday the 13th – is this an omen?
Robert should have gone to a Reception in York last Saturday given Yorkshire Ambulance Service for First Responders. There was an award ceremony at which Bentham won the Best Responders Award and Robert was voted the 2008 Volunteer of the Year and was presented, albeit in absentia, with this plaque. Wow!
On Tuesday quilting was cancelled as they said it would be snowy. It wasn’t so we went out to lunch at the Lunesdale Arms. We went on to Booths to stock up on supplies just in case the weather turned really nasty. As it is here's a picture taken earlier today showing our house in glorious sunshine with no snow although Ingleborough has its usual covering........
..and here's one taken out of the upstairs window about five minutes ago just as the sun was setting.
