Tuesday evening.

Guess what. Yes no operation today either.

For the fourth night in a row Pikey was starved and dressed in an operating gown the next morning. The consultant who was originally in charge of her in January came back from holiday. He saw what his stand-in was proposing to do (the rod inside the femur idea) and decided to do something completely different which involves plating her femur all the way from her knee to the bottom of her artificial hip. This will be a stronger repair but they did not have the right piece of hardware in stock. They sent for it to Derby and it has now arrived at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. She was first in the list today and hopefully she will be first in the list tomorrow but don’t hold your breath.

To add to all the excitement someone in the ward has been diagnosed with MRSA and has been hastily moved out into isolation. It is all really quite worrying with Pikey’s inherent lack of immunity.

She was quite cheerful because today at least there was a good reason for the delay but getting herself psyched (I spelled that right first time without the spell-checker!!) up each day is really very exhausting.

Her direct phone number at Lancaster Royal Infirmary is 0704 1140109 and when prompted her personal number is 6964. Please send any cards to Summerhill Stables and I will take them in to her – it gives us something to talk about!!!

Loads of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Robert and Pikey (in absentia).
