The tentacles of blogs spread through the ether and around the world as far as Australia....
This is a photo of Elliane, Mark and Jan's granddaughter, with Molly, Mark and Jan's Irish terrier. For those of you who don't know Mark Sutherland-Harris is Pikey's first cousin who lives just outside Sydney. Of course, Robert had to invert the picture to make it come out the right way up as it was taken in Oz.
Pikey's operation a week ago seems to have been quite successful although probably not quite so effective as the one last December.
Pikey went to see the doctor yesterday to ask about the possibility of having some remedial surgery on her right foot; this is still very twisted and painful when she walks without her caliper - this pain is fairly bad even though her right leg is numb below the knee. After looking at the orthopaedic surgeon's last report, and bearing in mind the real risk of catching an infection if she went into hospital, especially in view of her lack of immunity due to her myeloma, the doctor concluded that an operation was just not worth the risk. This was a disappointment which we are learning to live with - it means wearing boots and a caliper on her right leg for the rest of her natural.
We were meant to be on our way from Provence this week; bitterly disappointing as it was not to go, we now realise that it was the correct decision. Robyn is out there at the moment staying in a friend's parents' house near Nimes.
Love to all
Robert and Pikey
