We have had a week of forward planning and snow clearance.
Robert now has an appointment the orthopaedic surgeon who did his left knee to discuss what to do about his right hip – that’s on Thursday. Meanwhile we have a date on Monday with the carers’ organisation we deal with to discuss full time care when Robert comes back from his op. We are aiming for a mid January date to get past Pikey’s next trip to her haematologist. We could not organise all this, if we weren’t able to rely on private health insurance which will allow us to choose the time and the place.
The snow came on Sunday night and dear Angela and Cherry, our two cleaners, gallantly walked here through the snow to help us. Robert finally managed to salt our sub-drive yesterday and we have now got the car out into the main courtyard but have not yet ventured up the main drive. Clare, the elder sister of Giles who lives next door managed to put her car into the ditch beside the main drive; she came to a halt on the steepest part and slid backwards into the ditch with her mother in the passenger seat. Giles had to tow her out - otherwise the main drive would have been blocked. Robert walked into High Bentham on Tuesday but that didn’t do his right hip much good at all!
Loads of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ from Robert and Pikey

The snow posts very dramatic! Readers demand pictures! Let's see cars in ditches and sheep needing to don big tacky holiday sweaters!
