Pikey’s much better and the antibiotics appear to have done the trick.
Robert’s right leg is still a concern and we have now decided, provided we can arrange everything, to have a hip replacement in January. He can last till then he says. In the meantime we have to arrange for full time live in care at home – it seems easier than getting Pikey into a nursing home, which she would hate. The live-in carer would be needed for some time after Robert comes home because someone has to push Pikey about on her commode – quite hard work.
The weather has been very changeable and last night there was a terrible gale and the top of one of the trees up the main drive blew down across the drive itself so we woke this morning to the whine of chainsaws.
We have decoded to tarmac the tip end of our drive so that we can push the wheelchair across to the garden which is, at present, impossible through the deep limestone chippings which are there now.
Pikey went to quilting on Tuesday and it was so cold that Robert, instead of having his usual walk with Brindley, retreated into the company of the quilting ladies in Barbon Village Hall. He always washes up their tea cups anyway.
Both Adam and Annie seem to have recovered from their respective colds.
No mechanical breakdowns this week – makes a change! Robert has made some progress with the repair of the sewage system the breakdown of which appears to have been caused by faulty installation. £780 up some one else’s shirt.
