It’s been a funny old week. After all the excitement of the previous week with all the visitors etc we seem to have come down with a bump.
Pikey picked up a nasty cold and has been coughing for England ever since. We were dreading it getting worse and precipitating a trip to the hospital which, after her adventures earlier this year, we both refused to contemplate. So Robert has been nursing Pikey through the worst – he reckons he runs a pretty good cottage hospital – at least he knows how to cope with a disabled patient unlike Royal Lancaster Infirmary (Ward 4) - see the entries for February and March this year if you needed any reminder!!!
We held out until today when we took the risk of seeing the doctor who has put her on antibiotics to knock the cold on the head. Hopefully that should cure it. Both Adam, Phil, Robert and Annie have had the same cold but their immune systems are a tad more robust than Pikey’s.
It was Robert’s 75th birthday on Wednesday which passed off peacefully in between taking Pikey meals in bed and trying to organise the repairs to the sewage system. The menu for the celebratory lunch – corned beef hash.
Oh and just to complete a fantastic week the handset and battery pack which operate the bath lift finally died a death and had to be replaced.
We both hope next week will be a less tiring one – so sorry to moan but then that’s what this blog is about isn’t it? We just tell you all our news good, bad or downright boring!!!
Loads of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ from Robert and Pikey

Colds bad! Antibiotics good! And Happy Birthday, of course. Corned beef hash is one of the few meals Ed knows how to make. First time he made it for me was also the first time Stan truly begged at the table. Which says something about his cooking. (you can decide what it says...) :-D
It says Stan has excellent taste
