On Saturday it was Adam’s first birthday and he had to go to A&E at Westmorland General in Kendal as he had raging diarrhoea and was very sick. As though that wasn’t enough, on Sunday Pikey caught the same bug. Robert was on double commode duty. It all passed off in twenty fours hours but was pretty alarming for Elinor and Phil with little Adam and pretty busy for Robert!!
Another paraprosdokian for you – this one from Groucho Marx. “One morning I shot an elephant in my pyjamas..,... just how he got into my pyjamas I'll never know."
The correspondence columns of the Daily Telegraph - the only proper sized paper left in the UK – has had a series of letters as to the correct way to address a teacher nowadays – Robert liked this letter.....

A dumb blonde went Heaven. St Peter met her at the Pearly Gates and said that she had to answer three questions to qualify for admission. First, which two days of the week start with the letter 'T'?; second, how many seconds are there in a year?; third what was the name of the jolly swagman in Waltzing Matilda?”
She thought for some time and said that the answer to the first question was “Today and Tomorrow” and the answer to the second question was “Twenty four”. She explained - “The second and twenty second of January, the second and twenty second of February and so on”.
And finally she said that the name of the jolly swagman in Waltzing Matilda was “Andy”. St Peter had grudgingly accepted the first two answers but was puzzled by her answer to the third.
'Easy' said the blonde, 'Andy sat, Andy watched, Andy waited till his billy boiled.'
St Peter just had to let him in ……….. and like you probably now can’t stop humming Waltzing Matilda.
Coming events – Adam’s christening on Sunday – the removal of Pikey’s cast on Friday.
