Well we got rid of one lot of snow ....... then the heavens opened and we got another and bigger load so we are marooned again. Oh for some global warming!!!!!

Why is "snow" like "sex"? Firstly, they both begin with the letter ‘s’ and secondly, the older you get the less enchanting they both become.

Pikey had to miss her dentist’s appointment today to mend a nagging tooth and very probably will miss her trip to see the consultant in Barrow but hopefully we can get the reassurance she needs over the phone. Luckily we had the relevant blood tests on Monday at Bentham before the second coming of the snow.

Up in Dundee, as you can imagine, Kate & Co have been getting in lots of skiing.

Robyn very nearly got caught in the white out on the A3 outside Petersfield on Tuesday evening on her way home from work. She got through with 30 minutes to spare so avoided having to spend all night marooned in her car as lots of other drivers did. She couldn’t get to work on Wednesday so she stayed at home with Annie and they built snowmen in the back garden.
Elinor, Phil and Adam have been up and down the snowy icy lane making sure we are OK – a mutual thing in fact. No pictures of Adam in the snow but here’s one of him at Christmas - not that he knew much about it all!
If you want to see Susie and Cordelia go to http://www.belabumbum.com/uncategorized/tips-for-new-mamitas It’s sounds like an unlikely web-site but then it is on the other side of The Pond.
Most days Robert has been ferried into Bentham by Tim Kerr in their 4x4 as Catherine is a teacher at Bentham Primary School and that establishment has not shut – and they are rather proud of the fact. However, on Wednesday, Tim said he would drive down the slope into our bit of the drive and we proceeded to slide towards the beck although luckily they were heading towards the large tree which they did not hit but which would have saved them from a watery and very icy death.
On Monday Peter and Phoebe Wainwright dropped in for tea (home made scones, Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam) after spending the night at Giggleswick and walking up to Malham Cove (see photo below). Just to worry the Yanks we should tell you he was Robert’s fag at Charterhouse; he is also like Robert a Past President of the General Practice Division of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. They had a lot up with which to catch.
Angela kindly braved the weather on Tuesday to come and clean for us; she hitched a ride on an ATV to get here and then walked home.
Here’s the view from the back landing yesterday morning.

Love all the pics & news! Really fabulous. Homemade scones....yum.

The snow is impressive. Oh and yes, that site you linked to has some oddities... I think "Belabumbum" -- the name of the company -- means beautiful bottom in Portuguese. Also, other stangeness. e.g. Yes, for what it's worth I meant to spell "the" as "teh"
