This week those bloody phone calls. Robert always recognises them because they ask to speak to "John Holland". That’s about the only advantage to being called by your second Christian name!!
When you get a cold call on the phone; just say 'Hold On, Please...' Put your phone down and leave it alone. This makes every telemarketing call so much more time-consuming. When you eventually hear BT's 'beep-beep-beep' tone, you know it's time to go back and hang up your handset. You have completed your task and helped to eliminate telephone soliciting.
If you get one of those annoying phone calls with no one on the other end, it’s an indication of a telemarketing technique where a machine makes phone calls and records the time of day when a person answers the phone. This is then used to determine the best time of day for a 'real' salesperson to call back and get someone at home. So this is what you should do, if there’s no one on the other end, immediately start hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7 times, as quickly as possible. This confuses the machine that dialled the call and removes your number out of their system.
Elinor took Adam swimming today - 17 weeks old. At one point she let go (deliberately) down he went and up he came up again like a cork out of a bottle or as Robert’s mother used to say "like a fart from a curtain pole". The folk leading the course were amazed he did it so young. Never did that in our day!!!!!
Here’s a picture of proud Annie in her first school uniform.
