Some very sad news. Edith Felber, Edward's mother-in-law, died on Tuesday morning after a long and valiant fight against cancer. We both have such fond memories of her at Edward and Susie's wedding just after 9/11.

On a happier note we had a visit from Chris and Alison Farara on Sunday; they used to live down the road when Robert and Jill lived in Guildford; they have managed to keep up with both him and Jill. She was brought up just near Kirkby Lonsdale and they had come "oop North" to refresh her childhood memories.

Then on Tuesday the Browns arrived for three nights which cheered us up immensely and served to jolt us out of the rut along the bottom of which we seemed to have been crawling.

Pikey has now finished the second week of the second cycle of her Velacade treatment and apart from the controllable nausea and uncontrollable tiredness has had few problems apart from painful mouth ulcers (which she always gets with chemo) but which are also controllable. All it really means is that Robert's pharmaceutical skills are being tested to even higher levels.

This is a picture of our resident toad taken by Robert by flash on his nightly "potting Brindley circuit" of the garden. He is rather pleased with his effort especially as he could not see the damn thing in the dark to get it in focus.

..and this is picture of one of the house martins who are nesting in the same place above the front door as they did last year despite the fact that we demolished last year's nest - and to think they go all the way back to Africa and then return to the exact same spot. Robert is sure its due to our fanatastic magnetism!!
Loads of love Robert and Pikey
