A pretty humdrum week....

On Monday we went over to Barrow on Monday to see Pikey’s friendly haematologist. We had the usual three hour wait which is not the most comfortable thing for Pikey in her wheel chair without any chance to go walk about on her zimmer.

Anyway all was well with her blood counts. She has becoming increasingly sleepy lately and this has been caused, he thinks, by the thalidomide dose she has been taking. So he has halved it and we will see if that makes any difference. This drug, which had such a terrible effect on pregnancies, is now very effective in controlling myeloma. Her dose can always be put up again if the signs are negative in the future.

Pikey had hoped our dentist could extract a badly aligned front tooth but he advised against this because with her condition it could cause all sorts of problems. However we are due to see a dental specialist in Lancaster to check that this the correct decision. The tooth is not causing her any pain except to her appearance – who cares any way at our stage in life.

It snowed heavily on Tuesday night so we could not get to the optician in Kendal on Wednesday. The snow’s all gone now and we went today so Pikey was able to order two new pairs of glasses and to do some shopping in M&S – Robert pushed.

Loads of love ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ from Robert and Pikey.
