Way Beyond Grumpy Rant No 3.
People driving 4x4’s when they never ever go off-road and people who pronounce the word "drawing" as "drawring".

We have had a fairly action packed week – for us, that is – because, on Tuesday, Edward came down to see us from Dundee where he was staying with Kate and hoping to go skiing this weekend as he has been asked by the FT to do a piece on skiing in Scotland. Kate, Charlie and Patrick all ski. It was lovely to see him and great fun catching up with all his news. We owe a big thank you to Edward's mother-in-law, Edith, who looked after Stan while he has been away.

On Thursday when Edward was due to leave all those lorries were blown over on the M6 which was shut between Kirkby Lonsdale and Carlisle – exactly the stretch he needed to drive on as he was seeing an old friend in Carlisle for the that night. So we devised a non-motorway route for him but in the end he stayed till lunch time by when the road was reopened although they were still recovering vehicles which had been blown over.

On Thursday morning we went to the hospital in Lancaster to see the surgeon who had screwed Pikey’s leg back together. All was well and she can start putting weight on it at the end of next week (5 weeks after the op); she can put three stone in weight on it using the bathroom scales and then increase it by a stone each week. She still has to have the cast on her leg so life is still rather three legged but we can see light at the end of the tunnel. That was the first time Pikey had been out of the house for four weeks.

There have been strong winds and rain (and a little snow) all week and it seems to have got much much colder.

Some one sent us this joke which we liked as a simple non-sexual, a political joke.

He urgently needed a few days off work, But, he knew his boss would not allow him to take leave. He thought that maybe if he acted "Crazy", Then he would tell him to take a few days off.

So, he hung upside-down on the ceiling. His blonde assistant asked him what he was doing. He told her that he was pretending to be a light bulb, so his boss might think he was "crazy" and give him a few days off.

A few minutes later his boss came into the office and asked, "What in heaven’s name are you doing?". He told him he was a light bulb. He said, "You are clearly stressed out. Go home and recuperate for a couple of days." So he jumped down and walked out of the office...

When his assistant followed him, the Boss asked her, "Where do you think you're going?!" She said, "I'm going home too. I can't work in the dark".

Loads of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Robert and Pikey.
