UPDATE

Pikey had a bad night and not a very good day but I stayed by her bedside from 3 until 6 when Elinor arrived.

They all say the first day after an op is OK because you are just relieved that the op is over but that second day after the op is the worst as reality and pain set in. Anyway she is off the morphine pump and they are controlling the pain with injections.

One of the real problems is that the nurses on at night, being recruited either from Preston or the relics of the British Empire in the Great Subcontinent, cannot understand what Pikey says because they don't talk English too well - heigh ho.

All in all a fairly depressing day.
