STOP PRESS FROM THE BENTHAM SHOW
Despite a very late quilting dinner last evening at Barbon and wondering being so tired how the hell we got home we had startling success at Bentham Agricultural Show today.
Robert got two first and one second prize and also Best Exhibit in the handwork section. Pikey got one first, a second and two third prizes. Her "wall handing" which won Best in Show at Kirkby Lonsdale only got a third prize today. Robert’s Best Exhibit appears to have gained him the High Bentham Women’s Institute Plaque but we have yet to hear anything.
The whole show was called off in mid afternoon as the rain was incessant all day and the show field was an absolute quagmire – Robert had great trouble in getting Pikey to the show tent at all.
Entrances fees totalled £3.60 and the prize money was £7.25 – a profit of £3.65 tax free.
