"WALL HANDING by P HOLAND"

When Robert was much much younger he remembers going to childrens’ parties at which (apart from jelly) the highlight was film shows of comedy classics by the likes of the Marx Brothers. In one film - he thinks it was "Duck Soup" - the film opens in Cairo with one of the brothers leaning with one arm on a building (wall handing, in fact). When asked what he was doing he said he was holding the building up. "Nonsense" was the response - with which he walked away and the whole building fell down.

The reason we are telling this story is to tell you all that, at the Lunesdale Show on Tuesday, Pikey entered one of her wall hangings and won not only a First Prize, but also The Gibson Trophy for Best Exhibit in Classes 6-9 and the Kirkby Lonsdale Agricultural Society Cup for the Most Outstanding Exhibit in the Home Industries Section which had 44 different classes. The Gibson TRophy is a quaich. The local Westmorland Gazette reported as a "wall handing" by "P Holand".

No other really earth shattering news.

Love from Pikey and Robert
