Are the Chinese really ready for the Olympics? Part 6

Pikey has been walking with her zimmer frame for short distances with Robert keeping the wheelchair in close proximity to her bum - for safety’s sake. We are trying to increase the distance covered each day. It’s really lucky the top passage is so long as it allows a good long walk if it’s raining – when isn’t it at the moment!!! The physiotherapist has said that she should do the walking "little and often" which is what we had decided before he told us!!

On Wednesday we went with Elinor and Phil to the RHS Garden at Harlow Carr (just this side of Harrogate). For once it didn’t rain at all and we had a really good time, Pikey spent far too much money in their fantastic shop, Robert bought a new walking stick – he’d forgotten to bring his own – the new one has a floral design – very snazzy, we all had lunch at Betty’s as it was Phil’s birthday (42!!!) – if you haven’t heard of Betty’s you haven’t really lived and, as Pikey was able to use one of their electric wheelchairs and Robert had his new stick, we all went round the gardens which are fantastic.
A general view of the gardens.....
... and a shot of Pikey telling the RHS staff what to do!!!

Robert saw his surgeon on Thursday and everything seems to be going along fine. He doesn't want to see him until November.

This morning Pikey had a bath!! Normally she always has showers but hasn't had one since January when she broke her leg for the first time. She can now have a bath because we have had a bath lift delivered by the local health services (free) which you sit on and it lowers you into the water – it gets you out again as well!!! She described it as "just heaven".
Elinor has landed a new job with the Environment Agency which she can do from home with the odd trips to HQ at Bristol; so at least the drag of going up and down to Warrington will come to an end. Tony has been offered a much better job with another care organisation. So those two are really chuffed.
Loads of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Robert and Pikey.
