All is well at Summerhill Stables.
Robert had the metal staples taken out of his hip this afternoon. 20 in all. The nurse said it had all healed up really well. The other stitches are inside and dissolve – he presumes. The walking is coming along fine.
The gout, which was a good deal more painful than the hip op, has subsided to a minimal level although the treatment produced some quite alarming intestinal variations. The pills are made from the dried seeds of Colchicum, the Autumn Crocus to you and me. Robert wants to know why, since the use of this medicine goes back to Roman times, did someone decide to grind up dried up colchium seeds and take them in the first place.
Pikey is well and being looked after really well by the lovely Moby who is with us until tomorrow week.
