Pikey had a very good visit to her haematological consultant in Barrow on Monday although it took six and a half hours for a ten minute appointment. The Velcade has worked and the "bad" paraproteins in her blood have gone down to "a trace". So all the trauma of the nine weeks of chemotherapy treatment has paid off.

Adam James Smith is a delight and well-behaved ………so far.

You often get a chunk of learning in this blog and here’s some more ...... musings on the naming of our Adam James Smith.
Is he named after this "Adam Smith"?
Adam Smith (1723 –1790) was a Scottish moral philosopher and a pioneer of political economy. He was born in Kirkaldy and a certain Gordon Brown at the moment has his constituency there. He (not Gordon Brown) was the author of "The Theory of Moral Sentiments and An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations" – this is normally abbreviated as "The Wealth of Nations" was the first modern work of economics and he is considered to be the father of modern economics. In the depths of a recession - an appropriate name? We think not.

Or was he named after a motor cycle? AJS’s origin can be traced back to the early 1900's when the Stevens brothers - Harry, George, Jack and Joe set about producing AJS motorcycles. The initials AJS were taken from Albert John Stevens, the only brother to have a middle name. Over the years AJS has produced and continues to produce fine motor cycles. Unlikely.

"Old age is not so bad when you consider the alternative" Maurice Chevalier (1888 –1972)
Enough of this rubbish.....
