The biggest (and only) excitement of the week was the near miss at an X-ray appointement. On Tuesday we had got Pikey settled in the car and Robert had set the alarm and locked the front door ready to drive to the private hospital in Lancaster to have an x-ray on Pikey's spine which is giving her quite a lot of gyp at the monent.
Just as Robert got into the car he realised that he had forgotten his "man bag" he uses now to hold all the essentials of life i.e cash and plastic. Just as he re-opened the front door the phone rang and, having tossed up whether or not to answer it as we were running late, he decided to do so to discover that hospital on the line saying the X-ray machine had mal-functioned and could we come another day. That would have been a wasted morning.
Anyway we went for the X-ray today and are seeing her neuro-surgeon on Monday evening to see if he can do anything to relieve the pain - she is on quite a lot of morphine these days.
Elinor is now at home, getting larger by the hour and doing well.
We both liked this picture in the paper the other day - apparently the caterpillars rear up as a defensive mechanism. The headline was "Synchronised snacking".
...and we are sure that you saw this picture of a couple's holiday snap being hijacked by a squirrel - we are not sure it isn't a model actually!
