A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OUR READERS

INFURIATING PHRASE No 14
"At the end of the day". This phrase actually just means "eventually". Robert classes it with "at this moment in time" which actually just means "now".

We have had a wonderful new multi-fuel stove put in the sitting room as the old one had started to smoke badly and was difficult to control and kept falling to bits.

Robert now collects Swiss stamps and is a member of the Helvetia Philatelic Society, a collection of elderly nerds, and as such gets sent stamps for sale together with associated material. He always thought the Swiss were fairly serious folk who treated their railway system with some sort of respect but the attached postcard seems to contradict that belief.
Susie - a complete whizz at EAM (extremely advanced blogging), at which Robert is not even an incomplete whizz - has now produced a seasonal blog header which Robert is not even going to attempt. Poor Stan gets togged up at the slightest excuse.

The dry stone wall between our garden and the sheep fell down a couple of weeks ago and kind Sam rebuilt it this week which will keep the animals at bay.
For Christmas, Pikey has bought Robert an exercise bicycle to keep him fit while he cannot walk too well. The doctor, the nurse and Pikey’s physiotherapist all thought it would be a good idea vis-à-vis his heart and his knee. It has been put together in the small bedroom aka as the snoring chamber or his dressing room.
Robert saw his surgeon about his knee which seems no better and unlike the curate’s egg is still "bad in parts". He said that he should wait another six weeks to see what the final effect of his probing is going to be.
Stop Press News. Robert's second cousin has put up the £25,000 bail for one of the Guantanamo Three - he always thought that there was a mad streak in the family on his mother's side and now it's confirmed. Who said we do not affect world affairs?
Keep cuddling up, loads of love Robert and Pikey.
